Trauma Informed Training
Everyone experiences some form of trauma in their life, but certain groups in society experience more trauma than others.
Trauma is both a psychological and physiological response to a threat or harm. It may occur due to a single event or to ongoing adversity. It can have a huge effect on how an individual lives their life, as well as how they conduct themselves in the workplace.
The first part of our training looks at how trauma affects a person’s ability to function in the everyday. It also covers different types of trauma; racial, generational, childhood trauma, etc, and specific groups affected.
The second part focuses on how trauma informed training can show up in mentoring, teaching and other professional relationships. Providing the tools for managers and/or teachers to navigate their trauma responses, whilst building positive professional relationships, and safe learning environments.
The training session lasts for 3 hours, including time for discussion and Q&A. It can be delivered back-to-back, or as two separate 1.5 hour sessions.
Diversity and Inclusion Programme
This diversity and inclusion programme will help you identify critical areas of focus to bring about positive change and steps to help you create an inclusive working environment through education and awareness, bringing diversity and inclusion to the top of the agenda.
Done correctly, promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion in schools can be transformative for all students and staff, making everyone feel seen, heard and included.
The programme is broken down into five key steps:
-
Audit your current processes
-
Look at critical areas that need improving
-
Interview and survey students and staff
-
Senior leadership and whole staff training
-
Implement needed changes
This programme can also be delivered as a stand-alone workshop, providing you with the tools to develop a more inclusive working environment where everyone both students and staff can participate and achieve their full potential.
Anti-Racism Training
Interactive and thought-provoking, this training focuses on how to be actively anti-racist by looking at our prejudice and personal experience, and at institutional and structural racism within society and organisations.
The training moves beyond conscious and unconscious bias training and towards active allyship and anti-racism. It covers how to be a good ally, what allyship looks like, becoming actively anti-racist in the workplace and beyond, and creating a culture that includes all people regardless of colour or creed.
The session lasts 2 hours, can be delivered back-to-back or as two separate 1-hour sessions, and includes time for discussion and Q&A.
Middle Management Training and Coaching
We place people into positions of power because of their hard work and merit, but we don't always give them the support and training they need once they are in the role.
This training supports and guides new leadership roles, focusing on your vision and goals, setting priorities and areas of improvement to enable you to become more effective leaders.
The training session lasts for 2 hours, including time for discussion and Q&A. It can be delivered back-to-back, or as two separate 1 hour sessions.
I provide follow-up one-to-one coaching and support on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. It is extremely important for new leaders to feel supported and heard, whilst providing a safe space to express any fears and concerns, as well as creating a dedicated time to learn and grow while in their role.
Diversifying and Decolonizing The Curriculum
Our education system and curriculum is systemically racist and prejudiced and until we are honest about this nothing will change. As teachers and leaders, we need to think about how to overcome the intellectual limits and structural disadvantages embedded in the current curriculum.
By addressing unconscious biases and diversifying the curriculum, education can create a culture of belonging where each individual is celebrated for who they are, rather than being tolerated.
This training session will give you all the tools to really bring about change in your schools. It will focus on the many ways this can be put into practice, through schemes of work and learning, whole-school initiatives and student voice and empowerment.
The session lasts 1.5 hours and includes time for discussion and Q&A.
Introduction to Black History for Teachers and Senior Leaders
This training session looks at the importance of teaching real Black history to our students and the positive empowering effects this can have when you do.
It offers an overview of the types of Black history that should be taught in our schools, looking at a range of different topics from Ancient African Civilizations and The Black Egyptians to Black Inventors and Modern Black Icons of today.
You will come away with a better understanding of why it is so vital and what should be taught and discussed in your departments and classrooms.
The session lasts 1.5 hours and includes time for discussion and Q&A
